Can an EV charger work with solar panels?
Yes. Suitable smart chargers can be set up for solar-aware charging, allowing you to make better use of surplus solar generation where the property and equipment support it.
Do I need a consumer unit upgrade for an EV charger?
Usually no. Most standard EV charger installations will include a small fusebox with surge protection and all required switchgear specifically for EV chargers. If your existing consumer unit, earthing or supply needs improvement, Nick will explain this clearly before any work starts.
Can you install an EV charger without a driveway?
It depends on the property, cable route and parking arrangement. Nick can discuss the practical options and whether a safe, compliant installation is possible.
Do you supply the charger or install one I have bought?
Both may be possible. E-Fix can advise on suitable chargers, supply and install, or discuss fitting a customer-supplied unit if it is appropriate and compliant.
How long does an EV charger installation take?
Many straightforward home EV charger installations can be completed in a day, but this depends on cable route, consumer unit condition and any extra electrical work required.
Will I receive certification after the installation?
Yes. You will receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and Building Regulations compliance certificate. E-Fix also handles the required notification to the National Grid/DNO to connect the charger to the grid.
