What is load balancing in Smart EV chargers? 

Also known as load curtailment or dynamic load management - most smart chargers can adjust the level of current used by your charger in order to keep your installation load within safe limits and avoid blowing the supplier's main fuse and getting you into trouble! This is useful when multiple items are used at the same time in your property such as a power shower and other power-thirsty applications.

 

 This monitoring and adjustment is achieved by a current transformer clamped around the main Live cable feeding the property.

Using this technology enables you to monitor your house load through an app or even to use more than one charger at your property at the same time, it also allows you to set limits for charge rate 

 

The goal of load balancing is to prevent overloading the electrical grid and optimise the charging process.

In commercial settings in a scenario where multiple EVs are charging at the same time, load balancing ensures that the available electrical capacity is evenly and intelligently distributed among the charging stations. It prevents one charging station from drawing too much power and causing an overload while others receive insufficient power.
